Sugar free sweet with homemade Stevia powder. Sweets are absolutely delicious and easy to make. Almond, mixed seeds, desiccated coconut and sesame seeds makes it perfect winter special delicacy. Making Stevia powder is very easy if you have Stevia plant. Get nutrients and delectable taste both and its completely sugar free.

And do you know that 1/8 teaspoon stevia powder is equal to 1 teaspoon sugar. You can taste a leaf, its too sweet.

Stevia plant

How to make Stevia powder

Collect fresh stevia leaves. Wash and drain the water. Spread the leaves on a plate or paper towel. You can dry the leaves in shade or use your microwave. Microwave on high power for 1 minute. Stir the leaves and microwave again for 1 minute. Leaves will perfectly dry in 2 minutes. Now grind the leaves and store in airtight container. Add in your tea, coffee or make absolutely guilt-free dessert. And also try this delicious sweet to satisfy your sweet tooth. Earlier I shared one more recipe with homemade Stevia powder. Check out the Cantaloupe sugar free milkshake with Stevia here.

And stevia powder is also diabetic-friendly. Stevia is a low-calorie sweetener that has antioxidant and antidiabetic properties. It’s been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Unlike artificial sweeteners and sugar, stevia can suppress your plasma glucose levels and significantly increase glucose tolerance. It’s also not an artificial sweetener, technically speaking. That’s because it’s made from the leaves of the steviaplant.

Stevia also has the ability to:

• increase insulin production

• increase insulin’s effect on cell membranes

• stabilize blood sugar levels

• counter the mechanics of type 2 diabetes and its complications With a low to no calorie sugar count, artificial sweeteners may seem like a treat for people with diabetes.

But recent research indicates that artificial sweeteners may actually be counterintuitive, especially if you’re looking to manage or prevent diabetes. In fact, the increased consumption of these sugar substitutes may correlate to the increase of obesity and diabetes cases.

The good news is that there are sugar alternatives you can choose from, including:

• stevia or stevia products

• tagatose

• monk fruit extract

• coconut palm sugar

• date sugar

• sugar alcohols, such as erythritol or xylitol You’ll still want to watch your intake for glucose management, but these options are far better than the products marketed as “sugar-free.” To read more about stevia click here.

I have also used date powder or date sugar because I don’t have much stevia leaves. I have a small stevia plant but I hope I will get more leaves in next season. If you have sufficient stevia powder you can skip date powder and use only stevia powder. Date powder is also good if eaten in moderation.

Dates boast an impressive nutrient profile but are quite sweet. Yet, they’re packed with fiber, which helps your body absorb its sugars more slowly. When eaten in moderation, they’re a safe and healthy choice for people with diabetes. Healthline

You can get some date recipes here.

Recipe is very simple. I have used homemade mawa/khoya or dried milk and homemade paneer or cottage cheese. You can get the method of making mawa and paneer here. Just mash mawa and paneer really well with stevia powder to make smooth. And cook on low heat till it becomes like a dough. Don’t make too dry. Dry roast almond, mixed seeds, desiccated coconut and sesame seeds lightly. Roast just to make crisp and fragrant. No need to make brown. Grind into a coarse powder when cool. And mix with cooked mawa paneer mixture. Taste and add more stevia powder or date powder if required. Add according to your taste. Mix well and make laddu or give any shape of your choice. If you feel your mixture is too dry, grease your palm with little oil or ghee or add little milk to make smooth. Don’t add too much milk, add just to make laddu or round ball easily.

Recipe

Paneer or cottage cheese – 1 cup

Khoya/mawa or dried milk – 1/4 cup

Desiccated coconut- 1/4 cup

Almond- 1/4 cup

Mixed seeds- 1/4 cup

Sesame seeds- 1/4 cup

Stevia leaves powder- 1 tablespoon

Cardamom powder – 1/2 + 1/4 teaspoon

Dry date powder – 1 tablespoon or to taste

wp 1670602707012

Method

1. Dry roast sesame seeds, almond, and mixed seeds separately. Dry roast till fragrant. Seeds and almond shouldn’t be burnt.

2. Also Dry roast desiccated coconut lightly. Let everything cool down.

3. Grind the almond into coarse powder. Take out the almond powder and grind roasted mixed seeds, sesame seeds and desiccated coconut into coarse powder.

4. In a plate mash khoya or mawa and paneer. I have used homemade mawa and paneer. Get the method here.

5. Mash with your finger tips and heel of your palm. Mash to make the mixture smooth. Add stevia powder and mash again.

6. Heat a pan and add mashed paneer and khoya. Cook the mixture for 2-3 minutes. Stir continuously. Keep the flame low medium. Don’t make the mixture too dry, we have to shape in laddu. Watch video recipe for details.

7. Add all the ground powder and mix well. Add 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom powder and mix. Remove from heat. Add 1/4 teaspoon more Cardamom powder for flavour.

8. Taste and add dry date powder or more stevia powder if required. I didn’t have stevia powder anymore so used 1 tablespoon dry date powder. If you are using stevia powder use less. 1/8 teaspoon stevia powder is equal to 1 teaspoon sugar. So use accordingly. I have to use 1 teaspoon more dry date powder to make perfectly sweetened. Add these natural sweetener less or more according to your taste.

9..Mash everything well when cool. Spread some roasted sesame seeds on a plate. This step is optional. You can skip if you want.

10. When the mixture becomes smooth make laddu or round ball and roll on roasted sesame seeds. Or you can give any shape of your choice. If your mixture is too dry and you feel difficulty to roll then grease your palm with little oil or ghee or add little milk to make the mixture smooth. I greased my palm to roll the laddu easily. Give the shape as you like. Watch video recipe for details. You can store these sweets in refrigerator for 5-6 days. Stay healthy and happy 😊

Notes

1. You can use only mawa or only paneer if you want to make this healthy sweet.

2. Any dry fruits can be used instead of mixed seeds but don’t forget to lightly dry roast the dry fruits.

Recipe Developer Behind The Blog

Hello there!

I am Sujata Roy. A homemaker, a blogger, a passionate cook, a recipe developer, a home baker, and lastly a foodie.

Experimenting in the kitchen is what I love and enjoy doing the most. Specially experimenting with vegetarian dishes and egg-less cakes and cookies is what interests me more.

My loved ones are fond of vegetarian cuisines, so I have them in my mind whenever I dish out a new recipe.

However, I do not limit my experimental cooking to vegetarian recipes only, non-vegetarian recipe ideas are also dished out. And you can also get many healthy recipes in this blog, including different types of baking ideas with healthy ingredients. So enjoy healthy foods without compromising on taste.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Happy Cooking!
