Banana Cake With Rice Flour


Banana cake with rice flour.
Once I have added rice flour in cake by mistake. But loved the texture and taste. It was super soft.
Now here is a banana cake with rice flour.

What do you do with the over ripe bananas. Nobody wants to eat in my home. Try this banana cake recipe with over ripe bananas and see how it finished so fast.

Ripe banana contains a high concentration of dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, vitamin B-6 and antioxidant compounds.

And over ripe bananas with dark spots in it is more effective in enhancing the property of white blood cells.

The more darker patches it has the higher will be its immunity enhancement quality. Riper the banana the better the anti–cancer quality.

So don’t throw away the over ripe banana. Use them in cake, muffins or cup cakes.



Whole wheat flour or atta – 1 cup

Rice flour  – 1/2 cup

Powdered sugar  – 1 cup

Oil  – 1/2 cup

Ripe bananas  – 2

Vanilla essence – 1 teaspoon

Baking soda  – 1/2 teaspoon

Baking powder  – 1 teaspoon

Vinegar. – 1 tablespoon

Milk  – 1/2 cup

Chocochips or any nuts for garnishing



Preheat the oven at 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
Grease a cake tin and dust with flour. Keep it aside.

Mix vinegar in milk. Milk should be in room temperature.
Mash the banana with a fork or use your mixer grinder to mash it well.

Beat the sugar with oil. I like less sweet so I have used 3/4 cup sugar but you can add 1 cup if you like.

Now add the mashed bananas and vinegar mixed milk. Mix well.
Add all the dry ingredients and vanilla. Mix well.

If you feel the batter is dry add some milk more.
Pour the mixture in the greased and flour dusted cake tin.

Tap the tin gently.
Spread some Chocochips or any nuts of your choice.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
Time depends on the oven. Every oven takes different time. Mine took 30 minutes.

Check with a toothpick. Insert the toothpick in the middle to check. Bake until the toothpick comes out clean.

Let it cool. Slice the cake and enjoy. Or serve with ice-cream or chocolate sauce.

Radhaballavi With Dum Aloo Or Spicy Potato


Radhaballavi or lentil stuffed deep fried Indian flat bread.
A delicious breakfast dish of Bengal.

You can buy it from any sweet shop of Bengal.
A perfect breakfast for Sunday morning.

Radhaballavi is little different from kachori. Radhaballavi is soft and bigger than puri or kachori. Little sweetness in it’s stuffing make it too yummy.
Its taste delicious when cool too.
So its perfect for your picnic.

Radhaballavi goes well with chana/cholar dal or Bengal gram with hing/asafetida and cumin/jeera tempering and dum aloo/aloor dom or spicy potatoes. And yes some sweet too. I am sharing the recipe of dum aloo or spicy potato with radhaballavi.

I got the recipe from my brother Sanjay Gupta. A foodie and a great cook. Every Sunday he loves to cook something for us.
But he don’t like to follow any particular recipe. Always makes his own with less spices and little more oil. But don’t know how whatever he cook is always super yummy.

So here is my brother’s recipe of radhaballavi with dum aloo/aloor dom or spicy no onion garlic potato.


Recipe Of Radhaballavi

For Stuffing

Split black gram or urad dal – 1 cup

Oil or ghee/clarified butter – 2 tablespoon

Ginger – 1 inch piece

Green chili – 5-6

Asafetida or hing – 1 teaspoon

Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon

Salt to taste

Sugar to taste

For The Dough

All purpose flour or maida – 4 cup

Salt to taste

White oil – 2 tablespoon

Water as require to make a smooth dough.


Wash and soak the skinned black lentils or dhuli urad dal overnight.
Wash again and grind the lentils with green chillies and ginger. Keep aside.

I have used this tea cup to measure lentil and flour.


Take the flour in a large bowl. Add oil and salt. Rub the flour till it looks like breadcrumbs.

Add lukewarm water gradually. Dough shouldn’t be loose.
Knead until you get a stiff but pliable dough.

When you will feel the dough is not sticking to your palm, its ready. Cover and keep aside for 1/2 an hour.

Now heat 2 table spoon oil in a nonstick pan. Best if you use ghee/clarified butter. You can use 1 tablespoon oil and 1 tablespoon ghee/clarified butter too.

Add hing or asafetida then add the lentils ginger and green chillies paste. Stir well. Add sugar, salt and cumin powder. Mix well.

Keep stirring until the mixture dried up completely. Scrape the sides and let the mixture cool.

Make small balls from the dough. Flatten with your palm. Put one teaspoon stuffing in the middle. Bring the edges together. Close the ball completely. Fill all the balls like this.

Roll the balls with rolling pin with the help of littles oil. Be careful there shouldn’t be any crack on the surface.

Heat sufficient oil in a woke or karahi. When heated slide the radhaballavi carefully in the oil. Press gently with a spatula.

When it puffed up and colour change into light golden turnover. Fry the other side too till lightly golden in colour.
Radhaballavi is ready to serve.


Recipe Of Dum Aloo/Aloor Dom Or Spicy Potatoes

Potatoes – 1/2 KG

Tomato – 2

Ginger – 1/2 inch piece

Hing or asafetida – 1/2 teaspoon

Dry red chili – 2 broken

Bay leaf – 1

Cinnamon – 1 small stick

Clove – 2-3

Cardamom – 2 broken

Mustard oil – 4-5 tablespoon

Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon

Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon

Turmeric or haldi – 1/2 teaspoon

Kashmiri red chilli powder – 2 tablespoon


Boil peel and chop the potatoes in large pieces. Grind the tomatoes and ginger in a mixer grinder.

Heat oil in a pan. Add dry red chilli, bay leaf,cardamom, cloves and Cinnamon. Add the potatoes. Fry till the potatoes starts to change it’s colour.

Add salt,all the spices and ginger tomato paste. Saute till it dried up and oil leaves the sides.

Add water as require for the gravy. Let it boil. Cover and cook on simmer for 5-6 minutes.
Uncover and stir well. Switch off the flame.

Serve spicy no onion garlic dum aloo or aloor dom with fluffy yummy radhavallavi.

Singhara Atta Or Water Chestnut Laddu

Navaratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. Symbolizing victory of positivity over negativity.

The word Navaratri means ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Devi are worshipped.

Water chestnut flour or singhara atta laddu.
Water chestnut or Singhara is very nutritional and has many health benefits.

Its used for treating diarrhoea, dysentery, thyroid problems, swelling and bronchitis.

It is rich in protein carbohydrates and minerals. According to Ayurveda it contains 22 Percent more minerals than buffalo milk.

Its helps to prevent sugar, ulcer,gout and heart disease and used in Ayurveda to cure many diseases.
Water chestnuts are good source of energy too.

It is very good for overall health.
Water chestnut is a fruit so in fasting it’s flour is used for many dishes.

And the recipe needs only 3 ingredients and totally guilt free.



Singhara atta or water chestnut flour – 1 cup

Jaggery – 1/2 cup

Ghee or clarified butter – 1/2 teaspoon

Water – 1 cup



Dry roast singhara atta or water chestnut flour on low medium flame. Stir well. Roast till it changes colour and you will get nice aroma of roasted flour.

Boil 1 cup water in another pan. Mix 1/2 cup jaggery syrup in it ( I used date palm jaggery ( khajur gur) but you can use sugar cane jaggery too. Melt jaggery in little water to make syrup).

Now when flour roasted well  add hot water and syrup mixture slowly so that no lump is formed. Stir continuously.

When water is absorbed completely add 1/2 tsp ghee. Mix well and keep stirring. Now turn off the gas. You can add little cardamom powder too.

Let it cool. Make small balls or laddu and garnish  with cashew nuts or any dry fruits of your choice. Enjoy it as a dessert on fasting days or regular days.

Mango Banana Smoothie


Chilled refreshing yummy and filling mango and banana smoothie.

Summer time again and a chilled glass of smoothie is a perfect snack for this season.
You can take it as a healthy start of your day.

Mango is a very yummy and healthy fruit. Its prevent cancer, alkalize the body, aid in weight loss, regulate diabetes, help digestion, clean your skin.

Bananas are extremely healthy and delicious too. They contain several essential nutrients, and have benefits for digestion, heart health and weight loss.

Bananas are among the most popular fruits on earth. Bananas contain a fair amount of fiber, as well as several antioxidants.
So its a perfect drink for both kids and elders.



Chopped mango – 1 cup

Chopped banana – 1 cup

Curd – 1 cup

Milk – 1/2 cup

Honey – 2 teaspoon



Blend all the ingredients in a blender on high speed. Blend until smooth and frothy.

You can add some ice cubes too. Or use frozen fruits
Pour the mixture in a glass. Garnish with chopped or scooped mango. Serve chilled. Enjoyyyy

Apple Orange Banana Grapes And Carrots Smoothie (Dairy Free)

A smoothie loaded with the goodness of fruits.
Fruits are nature’s wonderful gift to the mankind; indeed, they are life enhancing medicines packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidant.


Most fruits are naturally low in fat, sodium, and calories. Fruits are source of many essential nutrients.




Carrot juice – 1/4 cup

Orange juice – 1 cup

Grapes – 1 cup

Apple – 1 peeled and chopped

Banana – 1 chopped

Cinnamon powder – a pinch

Ice cubes – as require



Squeeze out fresh juice of orange. You can use canned juice too. Grate the carrots and squeeze out the juice.

Take everything in a blender jar. Add ice cubes if you want. I have made it without ice and kept in fridge for an hour to get chilled smoothie. You can use frozen fruits too.

Blend on high speed until smooth and frothy.
Pour the mixture in a glass. Garnish with grape,apple slice, cherry or tutty fruity.

Beat the heat with this chilled yummy smoothie.
